Zen of Rowing - Artist's Statement

As an avid single sculler, I serendipitously ended up using my rowing experiences as a pivotal transition from B&W traditional darkroom-based photography into color, digital photography.

Many sports have a spot in time when all elements come together to create the perfect moment—zone, flow, swing, high, Zen—and many athletes find a personal moment when an exceptional force propels them beyond expectations.  The same is true of artists.

Once I discovered the unexpected moment of subject, camera, and color coming altogether, I realized I had found a moment of photographic Zen, and I haven’t looked back yet.

All work is available for sale, licensing, or printing in other formats.  Images from the Zen of Rowing portfolio can be printed onto aluminum or Dibond with a floating frame or matted and framed under glass in various sizes.
